| Leishmania sp. infection was investigated in wild animals from the Ingá Park, in the municipality of Maringá, Paraná state, Brazil, where American cutaneous leishmaniasis (ACL) is an endemic disease. Sixty-five mammals, comprising Didelphis albiventris, Cerdocyon thous, Lycalopex vetulus, Cebus apella, Dasyprocta azarae, Dasypus novemcinctus, Procyon cancrivorus and Nasua nasua, were captured. Galls are changes in the pattern of growth and development of plant tissues or organs in response to the action of an inducing organism, usually an insect. The goal of the present study was to inventory the insect galls of the Floresta da Cicuta (Volta Redonda, RJ, Brazil). | Foi realizado um levantamento fitossociológico em dois fragmentos de floresta higrófila (mata de brejo) no município de Campinas, SP. Em cada fragmento foram alocadas 10 parcelas contíguas de 10 m x 10 m e amostrados todos os indivíduos com PAP (perímetro à altura do peito) <FONT FACE="Symbol">³</FONT> 10 cm. Os dados dos dois fragmentos foram agrupados e analisados em conjunto. Ao todo foram amostrados 955 indivíduos de 55 espécies, 44 gêneros e 29 famílias. | Resumen La abundancia y variedad de microhábitats en los cultivos de café bajo sombra favorecen las poblaciones de hormigas. En cuatro fincas de la vereda Guadalupe alto del municipio de Quipile, Cundinamarca (Colombia) se determinaron la diversidad, la composición y los gremios de hormigas asociadas con el cultivo de café (Coffea arábiga) bajo sombra de Inga sp., Tabebuia rosea, Musa sp. y Citrus sp. | Neste trabalho estudou-se a regeneração natural de três hectares, em floresta ombrófila de terra - firme na região do rio Urucu no município de Coari -Am ( 40 51' 18" e 40 52' 16" S; 650 17' 58" e 650 20' 01" W), abordando todos os indivíduos com altura total maior ou igual a 10cm até 3,0m e diâmetro à altura do peito (DAP) menor que 10cm.
